Datsun Tran is a Melbourne/Adelaide based artist in high demand for commissions all over the country. If you want a portrait though, you’d better have a big wall because he goes through more cans of spray paint than a bunch of teens down at Frankston Railway station on a Saturday night. His latest direction featuring small paintings of birds was picked up at the recent Melbourne Art Show by a London art buyer who will be taking them to the US for the American Art Show circuit. With over a hundred bird pieces already sold, he won’t be an emerging artist for long. Datsun is the first in a series of portraits featuring contemporary Australian artists I’ll be doing.
